Mileage ProgramsH.O.G National offers two mileage programs, the
yearly ABCs Of Touring contest and the lifetime H.O.G Mileage Program. Locally, Elkhorn Valley H.O.G offers two mileage
competitions throughout the year for our members. Let's start local, an
then move up to national.
The Sweat HOG summer mileage contest begins at the April
chapter meeting. It continues until the October chapter meeting.
The Frozen Spoke winter mileage contest starts at the October chapter meeting. It concludes at the April chapter meeting.

We offer both women’s and men’s categories. The riders in each category are recognized with the following prizes:
Participant patches will be awarded to all riders and their passengers (one passenger per rider, please) who record both starting and ending mileage.
For those who finish out of the top three, women or men, we offer a Second Chance to win. Each participant's name will be entered in a drawing for six additional prizes. Participant names will be entered in the pool at the rate of 1,000 miles in the summer and 500 miles in the winter. The more miles ridden, the better your chances to win. * NOTE * 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in the women's and men's categories ARE NOT ELIGIBLE for the Second Chance drawing.
Example 1: You logged 3,157 miles in the Sweat HOG (summer) contest. IF YOU DID NOT WIN 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place for women or men, your would receive 3 entries in the Second Chance drawing (3,157/1,000 = 3, always rounded down).
Example 2: You logged 1,752 miles in the Frozen Spoke (winter) contest. IF YOU DID NOT WIN 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place for women, you would receive 3 entries in the Second Chance (1,752/500 = 3, always rounded down).
To participate, members must have their beginning
mileage recorded by an
officer, or Road Captain anytime before the April chapter meeting (for
Frozen Spoke) or the October chapter meeting (for Sweat HOG). Paperwork
from the dealership denoting mileage is acceptable for new purchases. Your
ending mileage must also be recorded by an officer or Road Captain on, or
before the April chapter meeting (for Frozen Spoke) or the October chapter
meeting (for Sweat HOG). Both beginning and ending mileage must be
officially recorded to be eligible for prizes or patches. A digital photo
of your odometer, with time and date stamp, mailed to an officer is
acceptable for ending mileage only (if taken on the ending date of the
contest, the same reading will be acceptable for the beginning for the new
contest).
H-D ABCs Of Touring
Is there a town or county near you that begins with
the letter "X"? If so, you already have a leg up in this annual battle
of alphabet chasers, where points for the 24th letter are hard to come by.
Actually, "battle" is much too strong a word for this popular, friendly competition; providing motivation to ride to new or out-of-the-way places is what this program is really all about.
Here's how it works: Keep a camera and a copy of a current issue of HOG® magazine with your bike. Then, you can earn points by submitting photographs of you and your Harley® (or your H.O.G.® Fly & Ride rental bike) in front of official signs while holding a current copy of one of the magazines. The idea is to visit cities and counties beginning with as many different letters of the alphabet – and as many states and provinces – as possible. There are other ways to earn points, too, such as by attending State, National, or International Rallies, visiting national parks or forests, Harley-Davidson facilities, etc.
At the end of the year, we reward the highest point totals with great prizes and 15 minutes of fame (top winners are listed here on this Web site). You can also earn awards just for reaching certain point levels. But when all is said and done, it's not a matter of whether you win or lose (besides, how can you lose?), it's how you play the game: by touring the country on a Harley-Davidson® motorcycle.

H.O.G. Mileage Program

The H.O.G.® Mileage Program is beautiful in its
simplicity: You ride, Harley will reward you. Harley will even give you a pin
and patch just for signing up (registration is free). After that, additional
pins, patches, and motorcycle medallions will be awarded at various mileage
intervals. Your first award comes at just 1,000 miles (1,610 km).
Of course, there are a few rules you'll have to
follow:
| • | Only active H.O.G. members (full, full life, associate, and associate life) may participate. |
| • | If you have more than one Harley®, you have to enroll each one, and only mileage logged after you enroll will count toward your award. |
| • | You may participate as a rider, a passenger, or both – just be sure to fill out a form for each. |
| • |
And (this one's important), your enrollment form and award submissions must be officially endorsed by an authorized Harley-Davidson® dealer. However, it is still your responsibility to submit them once they are endorsed. |
So what are you waiting for? Get out and start riding – but not before you get yourself enrolled in the H.O.G. Mileage Program!
